THE RAMPART RALLY
The NOC National Under Canvas Rally, (a.k.a. The Rampart Rally) will be held from the 26th to 28th July 2019 in Morpeth at the Rugby Club. This is the same venue as the successful 2013 rally which many Members attended.
The Rampart Rally will be of the usual format with Friday evening being mainly a meet and greet time, plus entertainment consisting of a demonstration of the Northumbrian pipes and a short illustrated talk from one of our members, who rode his bike across Canada in 2006! There will be a bar with cask conditioned beer available.
On Saturday morning, there will be runs organised, with one being arranged especially for smaller bikes. The runs will take in the following places of interest; Coast and Castles Run, Gibbet Run (for smaller bikes), a honey farm, Hadrian’s Wall and castles/other fortifications. In the afternoon there will be a public display of our bikes, where we plan to feature the Great North Air Ambulance and our local Blood Bike charities in addition to our Nortons. On Saturday evening, there will be a band for our entertainment and of course, the bar will be open.
On Sunday we have organised a visit to the Aln Valley Railway. Since our last rally, this has expanded considerably and there is much more to see.
Food, pre-booked, will be available at the Rugby Club. This will include breakfast on Saturday and Sunday and a choice for dinner on Friday and Saturday nights. Although the rally itself will end on Sunday afternoon, those who wish to stay over at the Rugby Club can do so. There are plenty of places to eat and drink in town; also cafés where breakfast can be found on Monday morning.
We will be putting together a Rally Book, giving local information such as accommodation, places to see and visit and information on local eateries. Booking will be via the NOC web site and should be on-line early in the new year.
The Northumbria Branch of the Club is very excited to be hosting a National Rally again and we look forward to welcoming fellow Members in July.
Note – this is the first of two National Rallies in 2019, the second one being the NOC National Under Cover Rally (InCider 2 – The Second Bite) September 27th – 29th at St. Audries Bay, Somerset.
